The Pathogen Asset Control System (PACS) is a comprehensive, flexible software solution for accounting for and tracking biological materials in laboratories
PACS is designed to monitor the reception, transfer, movement, destruction and other actions with biological materials of all kinds throughout their lifecycle.
In PACS, each item in the repository is marked with a unique barcode label, allowing for fast, error-free data input while providing an extra level of security for pathogen asset tracking. With barcode technology, the repository process is fast, convenient and secure.
PACS is a highly customizable tool that can be configured to meet local regulations and needs, simplify the data entry process, and optimally organize data. The system offers configurable access rights and user management system and allows users to produce a variety of custom reports, with extensive search and reporting capabilities that enable users to output necessary data sets in appropriate formats.
PACS is a turnkey solution, with implementation including deployment, personnel training, and support. The training program includes a variety of training courses tailored for a specific organization. It is supported by a multi-layer technical support team, including a HelpDesk and regional support specialists.
PACS was developed by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to support the mission of the Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP), helping:
- Enhance the capability to identify and consolidate collections of pathogens and diseases of Biosecurity concern
- Enhance Biosafety and Biosecurity of stored biological materials
